johnsuitcropped_2John Butrus earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Hofstra University (1983), an MBA from Rutgers University Graduate School of Management (1985), and a JD from Washington University School of Law (1987).  Mr. Butrus is admitted to practice law in 13 jurisdictions including the Supreme Court of the United States.

In 1987, Mr. Butrus joined the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney in the Trial Section.  Within six (6) months, the District Attorney promoted Mr. Butrus to Chief Misdemeanor Prosecutor, and three (3) months thereafter to Felony Prosecutor.  During his tenure at the District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Butrus tried over 60 misdemeanor and felony jury trials, including 21 successful felony jury trials.

In 1989, Mr. Butrus joined Cozen O’Connor, PC, a multi-national law firm, where his practice focused on complex commercial litigation cases.  Within three (3) years, the firm promoted Mr. Butrus to Member status; and, in 1997, the firm promoted Mr. Butrus to Senior Member status.  During his tenure as a civil litigator and trial attorney at the firm, Mr. Butrus had lead counsel responsibility, and represented Fortune 100 Companies in numerous multi-million dollar litigation matters across the country and abroad.

In 1997, Mr. Butrus cofounded Butrus Khoshbin Wilson Vogt, LLP, which, over a nine (9) year period, he helped build from a startup entity to a successful litigation boutique with offices in Dallas and Charlotte, North Carolina.  In addition to Mr. Butrus’s management, marketing and client development responsibilities at the firm, he represented Fortune 100 companies in multi-million dollar commercial litigation matters.

In 2006, Mr. Butrus negotiated a merger between Butrus Khoshbin Wilson Vogt, LLP and Davis Munck, PC, a medium size firm that represented clients in commercial litigation, intellectual property, and business transactions. Mr. Butrus helped build the new firm, Munck Butrus Carter, PC, to 35 attorneys.  During his tenure with the firm, Mr. Butrus served as Board Member, Litigation Section Chairman, and Business Development and Marketing Committee Member. In addition, Mr. Butrus represented Fortune 100 business, technology, and insurance industry clients in complex commercial and intellectual property litigation, trials, and appeals. Mr. Butrus also provided clients with business consulting services related to prospective mergers, acquisitions, litigation evaluation, and other business matters.

Texas Monthly Magazine named Mr. Butrus as a “Texas Super Lawyer” in 2006 and 2007.

At present, Mr. Butrus serves as company President  and Board Member at Elucidate.
